The heat is moving out after two days of summerlike weather in Minnesota.
Highs soared into the 80s and 90s again Thursday in southern and central Minnesota. Redwood Falls topped out at 96 degrees and the Twin Cities reached a record 94. Even Hibbing was hot at 87.
For the Twin Cities, it was the second straight day of record heat for May. National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Taggart says Wednesday's high of 94 broke the old record of 91 set in 1934, 1948 and 1975.
A cold front is pushing out the heat. Cooler air will bring highs down to around 60 in northern Minnesota to the upper 60s and around 70 south.
Highs will range from the 60s north to the 70s south through Memorial Day weekend.
