Great Day To Play (Or Golf) In The Fresh Snow

LAKE ELMO, Minn. (WCCO) ― For the first time in a long time it seems that Minnesota is in the midst of a good, old fashioned winter. Over the past two days the ground has been covered with a few inches of fresh powder.

With it being around the holidays, there are many folks outside playing in it and the best part maybe some nice, mild temperatures to go with it.

In Lake Elmo, Minn., a town where residents can leave the shovels outside, the snow continues to fall gently from the trees, creating a place so pretty people don't mind if it covers their boots.

"I think its magical today. I don't like snow normally but I think it's just beautiful," said Christin Smith of Lake Elmo.

People are still resting from their Christmas celebrations, sharing stories about their families and clearing the snow they didn't get to the day before.

"I hate it. I don't like winter but I have to admit it's a nice, warm day and it's pretty outside," said Lake Elmo resident Margie Fox.

Believe it or not, the weather was also perfect for a little golf at the Country Air Golf Park, where golfers can hit balls into a plowed outdoor range. The attire: just a T-shirt because of the heat lamps above.

"I'm actually a little warm. I could actually take his off but it's so pretty. I'll leave it on," said Golfer Randy Miller, as he pointed out his green fleece jacket.

"We cater to both wimpy and hardcore golfers because the wimpy golfers would like to have it warmer," said Country Air Golf Park Joe Park. "For the hardcore golfer obviously it doesn't get any better than to see the full flight of your ball."

The avid golfers enjoy getting a jump on the season, being ahead of their golf buddies by spring.

But who is thinking about spring yet, when there is a Winter Wonderland right now?

"It looks like a card, really," said Smith.
