The line of storms that ripped through the Twin Cities area also severely damaged the middle school in North Branch, about 40 miles north of St. Paul.
A news release from the North Branch Police Department says the school suffered severe water and structural damage in the storm Wednesday afternoon.
Police say there have been multiple reports that the school was hit by a tornado, but as of Wednesday night they were unconfirmed.
Local television stations showed a large section of the school's roof was damaged in the storm, and the white bleachers on its athletic field had been ripped apart and scattered.
Police say they have received no reports of injuries.
