I-94 Reopens After Winds Knock Down Semis, Cows

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) ― Part of Interstate 94 was closed for a few hours near Fergus Falls after high winds blew a couple of semi-trucks off the road.

The National Weather Serviced says straight-line winds of between 70 and 85 mph hit Valley City on Wednesday.

State Patrol Captain Bruce Hentges says winds gusting from 60 to 70 mph blew two semis on their sides. One semi went completely off the road, while the other blocked both lanes of I-94.

The interstate reopened at 3:20 p.m. No one was hurt.

The Barnes County Sheriff's office says a livestock barn 10 miles north of Valley City was destroyed. Authorities say the owner of the barn reported seeing a cow blown in the air by the high winds.

Winds gusted to more than 50 mph at the Fergus Falls airport.
