More help is on the way for businesses affected by the August floods in southeastern Minnesota.
The Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation has now released $591,000 from its Business Recovery Program to help flooded businesses buy things like office furniture, supplies and equipment.
The group's president, former Congressman Tim Penny, says 135 applications for grants were received and 76 have been approved so far.
The grants have ranged from $1,400 to $10,000.
Penny said grants have gone to businesses in Eyota, Elba, St. Charles, Minnesota City, Winona, Goodview and Hokah, with the bulk of the grants -- about 50 -- going to businesses in Rushford.
The deadline for applying for the grants was Nov. 2. Penny said more grants are expected to be awarded next week.
