Target Announced As New Holidazzle Sponsor

(WCCO) Target will be the new title sponsor of the Minneapolis Holidazzle parades, the Minneapolis Downtown Council announced Thursday.

The Target bull terrier mascot, Bullseye, led a mini-parade down Nicollet Mall to kick-off the new sponsorship. The pup will also serve as the Grand Marshal for the first parade of the season.

"Parade goers are going to love the enhancements we're making to the 2008 Target Holidazzle Parade and we look forward to unveiling a new float and notable grand marshals in the coming weeks," Leah Wong, the vice president of events & marketing for Minneapolis Downtown Council said in a statement.

The holiday parades entertain more than 500,000 people over 19 parade nights and will continue that tradition this year during its 17 season.

The Holidazzle parades begin Nov. 28 and runs Thursday through Sunday until Dec. 21.

The parades start at 6:30 p.m. and last for 30 minutes as they move down Nicollet Mall and end at 4th Street in downtown Minneapolis.

All parades are free and open to the public.

If you can't make it down to the parade, WCCO-TV will tape the opening night of the parade and broadcast it the following day, Nov. 29, between 6 p.m. and 7p.m. Air time is subject to change.
