Last Polkafest At Ironworld

CHISHOLM, Minn. (AP) ― It's the last time for polka fans to enjoy Polkafest at Ironworld near Chisholm, Minn.

The three-day festival moves to another location next year.

Polkafest came to Ironworld in the 1980s at the request of Gov. Rudy Perpich. Before then, Polkafest had been held at different locations, including Pine City, Duluth and Hinckley.

This year's performers include Sam's Variety Gems, Bob Doszak, the Squeeze Box Band, the Alaska Button Box Gang, and the Chmielewski Funtime Band.

The Reverend Frank Perkovich will host Sunday's polka Mass.

The gates for Polkafest 2008 open at 10 o'clock this morning. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and tomorrow, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
