List Of Politically Incorrect Phrases Released
(WCCO)
"Misguided criminals" for the word "terrorists" has been named the top politically incorrect phrase for 2005 according to the Global Language Monitor.
The phrase is from the BBC, when an editorial referred to terrorists as "misguided criminals". The BBC said the editorial was taken out of context.
Also on the list is "God Rest Ye Merry Persons," based on the Christmas carol "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". A church in Wales changed the words.
Number six on the list is a proposal by teachers in the United Kingdom to replace the term "failure" with "deferred success", in hopes of boosting students' self-esteems.
