A Minnesota National Guard helicopter lost a door while flying over the Twin Cities on Tuesday.
According to the guard, a CH-47 Chinook helicopter was doing a routine training flight around 12:30 p.m. from St. Paul's Holman Field over the Maplewood-Oakdale area. The helicopter was about 1,500 feet in the air when the 2 foot by 4 foot Plexiglas and metal door fell. The door weights about 150 pounds.
So far, the door hasn't been recovered and there have been no reports of injury or property damage.
The guard said local authorities have been notified and are searching for the door. Anyone who knows where the door might be is asked to call their local police department.
The Minnesota National Guard is investigating the cause of the accident.
