A few days before he was fired last year, Berg's supervisor says he showed up for a shift late, unshaven, disheveled and smelling of alcohol.
Unkempt facial hair has cost a former Harley-Davidson salesman in western Minnesota unemployment benefits after he was fired.
The state Court of Appeals agreed Tuesday that Alexandria's Craig Berg was disqualified from receiving the jobless benefits because he was dismissed from an area Harley motorcycle dealership for employee misconduct.
According to the court decision, Berg was warned repeatedly about his appearance. A supervisor told him he could choose between a beard or a clean-shaven look but not something in between.
A few days before he was fired last year, Berg's supervisor says he showed up for a shift late, unshaven, disheveled and smelling of alcohol. Berg says he didn't shave because his razor was extremely dull, which caused him to break out under his chin and neck.
He was sent home to clean up but didn't return to work that day.
