Vikings DE Scott Cited For Possession Of Pot

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) ― Minnesota Vikings defensive end Darrion Scott has been cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Scott also was cited for failure to signal after he was pulled over Wednesday afternoon by officers with Charleston's Metro Drug Unit.

Lt. Chuck Carpenter says the officers began following Scott's Chevrolet Tahoe after seeing him stop and talk to another man at a public housing complex, where they were staking out suspected drug activity.

Carpenter says Scott was pulled over after he allegedly failed to signal while changing lanes.

Carpenter says the officers noticed the odor of marijuana but Scott refused to let them search the vehicle. A drug dog was brought in and it indicated an illegal substance allegedly was in the vehicle. The officers then searched it and found 7.1 grams of marijuana.

Scott was cited and released at the scene.

Scott's agent, Charleston lawyer Tim DiPiero, and a Minnesota Vikings spokesman didn't return telephone messages.

Scott is listed on the Vikings' Web site as being on injured reserve.
