After two weeks of silence, former Vikings great Carl Eller is speaking out on his arrest.
Eller told the St. Paul Pioneer Press his April 9 arrest by Minneapolis police was "terrible; I'm sick about the whole thing."
Eller was arrested April 9 after an alleged scuffle with police at his home. He's been charged with assault, making terroristic threats, driving while impaired and refusing to take a chemical test for alcohol.
In televised remarks, Eller said he was holding up after the arrest, but not very well. He called it "totally an erroneous thing that happens to a person."
Eller has acknowledged his history as a substance abuser. He became a treatment counselor and has spoken publicly to groups about the problems of chemical dependency.
