Winona Company's Favre Gear Flies Out Of MOA Shop

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) ― Vikings fans used to booing quarterback Brett Favre are now buying anything with his name on it. Now that his #4 jersey is purple, fans are enthusiastically wearing their hearts for him on their sleeves.

They're excited to watch the former Green Bay Packer play his first game as a Viking in the Dome Friday night.

Now a Minnesota company is capitalizing on Favre fever.

"I'm excited about Favre being here and next week I'll be getting my own jersey," said Joe Javinssky from Hopkins. He was at the Viking's Locker Room at the Mall of America buying one for his father's birthday.

"I called a couple of times yesterday to see if they had enough and they were going to put one on hold for me but they had plenty," said Roy Powell from Seattle, Wash. "It's exciting, there's hope."

Fans are flipping for Favre. Vikings Locker Room has sold hundreds of replica jerseys since they arrived Wednesday.

"I have every jersey for every team he's played for the Packers, the Jets, I have just the generic pink one and now I have the Vikings," said Sara Hinrich from Waconia. "I will follow him wherever he goes."

The #4 jersey is just the beginning. A Winona company is cashing in on any kind of Favre souvenir you can think of.

WinCraft shipped 15,000 "Welcome Favre" items Wednesday. Designs of the plaques, bumper stickers, flags and even earrings were approved and ready to go a month ago.

"Here's an opportunity, lets jump on it real quickly, now while there's still this excitement and uncertainty and perhaps most importantly, should he fail let's maximize revenues where we can," said University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management Marketing Chair Akshay Rao.

Just in time for Friday's game.

"I'm looking forward, I can't wait," said Henrico.

WinCraft shipped out new merchandise Thursday with Favre's face on it, which will be available at the Dome for the game Friday.

The company said they haven't seen such demand since Favre retired the first time.
