Northwest Flight Searched At Detroit Airport

ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) ― Passengers on a Northwest Airlines flight from Detroit to Atlanta have been asked to leave the plane due to a security issue.

Northwest spokeswoman Michelle Aguayo Shannon says in a release that passengers on Flight 467 had to be deplaned and re-screened "in the interest of passenger safety." Details of the security issue were not released.

Shannon says no arrests had been made.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport spokesman Mike Conway says Transportation Safety Administration officials and airport authority police removed the passengers before Friday's scheduled 1:30 p.m. takeoff.

He says police and canine units searched the plane at gate 819. Passengers had not been allowed back on as of 3:30 p.m.

The Eagan, Minn.-based airlines is Michigan's largest passenger air carrier.
