Xcel Energy Customers Without Power In West Metro

(Xcel Energy) Xcel Energy reported Thursday that about 7300 customers are without electricity as a result of an equipment failure at a power substation. 

The affected areas are Champlin, Coon Rapids, and Anoka. 

At the peak around 7800 customers were without power. 

Xcel says it could be several hours more before electricity is completely restored. 

The outage occurred at 1:15pm.
