Injured Taken To Several Hospitals Across Metro

One person died after being taken to HCMC, from an apparent drowning.

At least 60 people were injured when the Mississippi River Bridge on Interstate 35W collapsed into the river Wednesday night.
Dr. Joseph Clinton said 28 of those people were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Six of those people are in critical condition, hospital officials said. One person died after being taken to HCMC, from an apparent drowning.
Two adult sisters at HCMC suffered back fractures, family members said. The mother of the two women suffered a severe head trauma in the collapse.
At least four surgeries were performed on patients who were in the bridge collapse. One of the victims was pregnant.
North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn. said nine patients are being treated there. Reports indicated the injured were sent to various hospitals depending on what side of the river they were on.
Fairview University - U of M Medical Center said 25 people walked-in for treatment from the collapse. Five others arrived by ambulance. Only one needed surgery and that was for a broken arm, a spokesperson said.
