A spreadsheet released by the Justice Department shows that past and present U.S. attorneys in Minnesota may have been rated in part on whether they were members of a conservative law association.
The spreadsheet was released as part of the congressional probe into the firings of eight federal prosecutors. It lists qualifications of 124 U.S. attorneys nominated since 2001 -- including Minnesota's Rachel Paulose and her predecessor Tom Heffelfinger.
The document has columns for prosecution experience, political experience, judicial experience -- and membership in the conservative Federalist Society. Paulose was listed as a member while Heffelfinger is listed without affiliation.
Democrats said it shows conservative credentials were important to the Justice Department.
