Gov. Tim Pawlenty sought Thursday to put to rest the near-daily speculation that he has his political sights set on the White House.
At a news conference focused on the state budget, Pawlenty appeared annoyed when a reporter asked if another budget stalemate would harm his chances for national office.
Pawlenty, a Republican recently elected to a second term that runs through 2010, said in his clearest terms yet that he isn't shooting for a spot on a presidential ticket next year.
"For the 900th time, I am not running for vice president," Pawlenty said. "I don't want to be vice president and I'm focused on being governor of the state of Minnesota and have said I will fill out my term."
