Two officers are the focus of an internal investigation by the Minneapolis Police Department.
Police are looking into a citizen complaint about whether Sgt. Patrick Daly and Sgt. Robert Berry, were drinking on the job last Thursday night.
Sources said Daly also showed up drunk later in the night at the downtown strip club, Sinners. The manager of Sinners Night club says his bartender called 911.
The following is the 911 transcript:
Caller: Could you send an officer over? We have a gentleman who got a lap dance and is refusing to pay.
911 Operator: Is he refusing to pay?
Caller: Yep. Sinner's manager, Corey Mayer, also told WCCO-TV that Daly "flashed his police ID to the bartender and then went back into the club. Ten minutes later he tried to leave with the girl claiming he owed her twenty bucks."
Minneapolis Police are not releasing details of the incident.
Both officers were supervisors in the high-profile STOP unit which targets crime hot spots in the city.
A department spokesperson said, "The Internal Affairs Unit is conducting a thorough investigation, and if the allegations are found to be true, there will be serious consequences."
WCCO-TV also contacted the Minneapolis Police Federation.
Sgt. John Delmonico said, "These are serious allegations. I hope this investigation can come at a timely matter so the facts in the case can come out and be dealt with."
Chief Tim Dolan put Officer Daly on paid administrative leave. Dolan said while the allegations are not criminal, they are still serious and Daly could get fired.
