Governor Touring Eyota, Dover And Elgin Friday

Eyota, Minn. (AP) ― Governor Pawlenty is continuing his tour of flood-stricken communities in southeastern Minnesota this afternoon.

The governor will be visiting Eyota, Dover and Elgin before returning to St. Paul.

Pawlenty is promising a vigorous effort to get flood-damaged communities back on their feet.

After getting an update on flood recovery efforts from local officials in Winona this morning, Pawlenty said the effort will continue to make sure the communities severely damaged by flooding are rebuilt as quickly as possible.

Senator Norm Coleman and FEMA Administrator R. David Paulison accompanied Pawlenty. Paulison said FEMA recovery centers will be set up over the weekend in Fillmore, Houston, and Winona counties, which have been declared federal disaster areas. He said the centers should be up and running next week.

Pawlenty's office said FEMA officials will submit damage estimates today for Wabasha, Olmsted and Steele counties, which also had flood damage.
