Prayer Service Held For Man Kidnapped By Iraqis
by Esme Murphy
Minneapolis (WCCO) ―
Friends and family of a former St. Louis Park, Minn., police officer, who was working for a private security firm when he and four others were kidnapped by Iraqi insurgents last week, gathered for an emotional prayer vigil at a Minneapolis church Monday night.
Johnnie Mae Reuben, the mother of security worker Paul Reuben, played the piano at the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and joined others in calling for the man's safe release.
Reuben was kidnapped six days ago when he and other security workers were ambushed while guarding a military convoy. His captors have called for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq as well as a prisoner release.
"No matter what flag one is flying under, they all have relatives and mothers, and I just pray for my son that someone will remember that little piece too," said Johnnie Mae Reuben, who had been anticipating her son's arrival at home on Friday, his 40th birthday.
