5 Sisters Give Birth To 5 Babies Within 2 Months

(WCCO) There are many stories of about multiple births -- with three, four or five babies born to one couple. However, the story of the five Biese babies is different.

The baby boys -- Stephen, Mark, Joseph, Alexander and Samuel -- are a playgroup in and of itself.

However, the moms are all different -- and all related. The women who gave birth to the five babies are all sisters, and a sister-in-law.

They are one family, with five infants all born within two months of each other.

"I have said it before ... when I think about God, I just see it as a smile from him ... kind of like a wink. I think he's got a good sense of humor and I see it as a huge blessing and just a joy and a real gift," said Shivaun Biese.

As joyous as the baby boom has been for the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin women, it has not erased the pain of a dark day three and a half years ago -- the day one of sisters delivered a stillborn child.

His name was Gavin.

"Oh he is so in our hearts," said Deb Gagnon.

Gagnon said the death of her sister Sandy's son made all of them question their faith in God, but not shake it.

Big sister Barb Black puts it like this, "He was there with us when it was hard and he's there with us when it's good and we're really grateful for both."

"I am so proud of my sisters to think that they've been open to life so many times and especially after so much heartache that they continue to open themselves up to the risks of love," said other sister, Heidi Flannagan.

The baby boys all have older siblings, but as cousins -- with birthdays just days or weeks apart --they'll share a special bond.

"Could it be a coincidence ... or is it in God's greater plan? You just have to wonder," said sister Sandy Hug.

There is one more proud mom to add to the bunch -- Grandma, Mary Beth Biese. This latest batch of grandsons brings her total number of grandchildren to 22.

"The birthdays are on the calendar and their anniversaries and all these things. So, it gets to be a lot but what else are you going to do with your money?" she said.

The boys were born between April 24 and June 20 of this year.

Each of them has two to five older siblings and the women said they are not done having kids yet.
