New Web Site Helps Minnesotans Find Lake Property
by Lisa Kiava
(WCCO)
Minnesotans are passionate about their lakes and their lakefront cabins and now it is even easier than ever to find a dream lake house.
Wade Nelson built a business around Minnesotans' obsession for waterfront properties, called
LakePlace.com.
On the Web site, people can search by regions or even lake name. The real estate site combines 19 multiple listing services and only places on water are allowed.
"I think we're the only company in the United States, that I'm aware of, taken this many MLSs and created one easy-to-use search," Nelson said.
The Brainerd Lakes area is the most popular on the Web site and the Hayward, Wis. area comes in a close second.
A co-founder said the real benefit of LakePlace.com is it allows people to search in a certain price range in either Minnesota or Wisconsin.
Prior to the creation of the site, searching both states was tricky.
"To do that, once again, you'd have to travel from Web site to Web site," explained Cameron Henkel with LakePlace.com. "We thought, 'There's got to be an easier way to do this.'"
The owners of LakePlace.com said the best deals in lakefront properties right now include northeastern Minnesota, especially around Lake Vermillion.
