Racy Material Missing From 'Running' Game
(WCCO)
A racy interlude has apparently been removed from an online video game following a "parental alert" issued by a media organization.
The National Institute on Media and the Family are crediting their efforts for the removal of sexually explicit content from the game, which promotes the R-rated Paul Walker movie "Running Scared."
The game is available in two versions, including a "mature" version for players 17 and older. In level two of the mature version, gamers formerly directed their characters to perform oral sex, complete with sound effects.
The sexual challenge has since been removed from the game. While level two is introduced the same way, players take part in a driving skills challenge instead.
"We are very pleased that New Line Cinema has removed the pornography from the video game," Dr. David Walsh, President and Founder of the National Institute on Media and the Family, said in a prepared statement. "However, we are still extremely concerned as to why an X-rated sexually explicit video game was used to promote an R-rated movie in the first place."
A screengrab of the racy scene still existed on the Web site of the Game's designer, Heavenspot, as of Saturday afternoon.
The movie's Web site requires players to be at least 17 to access the mature version of the game. The site also requires registration in order to play.
