Mayors Promote Light-Rail To Connect Twin Cities
Minneapolis (AP) ―
Civic leaders are rallying for a light-rail line that would link Minneapolis with St. Paul.
The proposed line stretches eleven miles and will cost about $840 million. It'll connect St. Paul's Union Depot with the new light-rail transit station near the Metrodome.
Supporters of the project -- including Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman -- toured the proposed route Sunday.
The Metropolitan Council is expected this year to decide whether to build the light-rail line or opt for a less-expensive busway.
