Teen Arrested For Newborn's Death

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the police department in the investigation and the Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and nature of the death.
A newborn is dead and a 17-year-old girl from Oakdale, Minn. is in custody in connection with the infant's death, according to the Oakdale Police Department.
On Monday night, the Oakdale Police Department responded to a residence on the 1700 block of Hinton Trail in Oakdale to investigate the death of a newborn.
The Oakdale Police Department said a 17-year-old female was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in relation to the death. She is being held at the Washington County Jail in the juvenile detention facility.
The Washington County Attorney's Office is requesting charges in connection with the newborn's death.
Police said the investigation is limited to the residence which is not a child-care facility. The 17-year-old is the only person in custody in this case as the investigation continues.
No further people are expected to be charged.
