A Wisconsin appeals court has again refused to order a new trial for one of two men convicted of throwing a gasoline bomb into the Douglas County district attorney's home.
Harlan Schwartz of Duluth, Minn., was sentenced to 37 years in prison for arson and possession of a fire bomb after a Molotov cocktail was thrown through a living room window at the home of District Attorney Daniel Blank in Superior in 2000.
Schwartz claimed he was coerced into participating in the firebombing by a gang leader trying to intimidate Blank.
The 3rd District Court of Appeals ruled Thursday that Schwartz failed to show that his attorney's errors deprived him of a fair trial. The appeals court also upheld Schwartz's convictions in 2002.
