Funeral Today For Deer Hunter

Buffalo, Minn. (AP) ― The funeral is Friday for the 14-year-old hunter killed when another hunter apparently mistook him for a deer.

The man who shot Brandon Lanie is facing manslaughter charges. Steve Ferguson, 43, said he believed he was shooting a deer when one of his bullets struck Lanie in the back of the head.

Ferguson also said he was drinking before the incident.

The service for Lanie is at 11 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo, Minn.
