A jury Monday found a Twin Cities teacher not guilty of having sex with a student.
Jurors decided Julia Lund, 29, did not use her authority to influence a 17-year-old boy.
Lund, a former teacher at Chaska High School, had been charged with third-degree sexual misconduct. Police said Lund had engaged in sexual conduct with a student at the school, but who was not in any of her classes.
Prosecutors said Lund solicited the teen with text messages and phone calls, saying she was lonely and her husband was away five days every week.
Lund allegedly invited the student to meet her at Hidden Ponds Park in Eden Prairie, Minn. in late October or early November 2006. The student claimed they engaged in sexual activity during their meeting.
Lund's defense argued that not all wrong-doing is criminal. After the verdict was announced, Lund sobbed and hugged her husband.
