Body Of Minneapolis Woman Found In Ditch
Northfield, Minn. (AP) ―
A backhoe operator found the body of a 33-year-old Minneapolis woman Sunday along an isolated rural road near Northfield, Minn.
Authorities have not yet released her name.
Rice County authorities were treating the case as a homicide.
The body was found in a ditch about a mile off Interstate 35, about six miles west of Northfield. Northfield is about 35 miles south of St. Paul.
Authorities said they believe the body had been there less than 24 hours.
Rice County Sheriff Richard Cook said there was some obvious cuts and bleeding on her face and torso, adding, "But there was nothing grossly obvious."
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was been called in to help investigate. The woman's body has been taken to the Ramsey County medical examiner's office for examination.
Authorities said they have no suspects in the case.
