The University of Minnesota has announced that Minneapolis-based MA Mortenson Company will be the general contractor for the school's new football stadium.
Mortenson is a frequent builder of sports facilities and constructed the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul and Target Center in Minneapolis.
The new Gophers stadium is expected to cost $288.5 million and open for play in 2009. The university must still raise $31 million toward its $86 million portion of the project.
