Officers' Names Added To National Memorial

WASHINGTON (AP) ― Around 50 St. Paul police officers took part in a vigil in Washington in memory of their fallen colleagues.

They went in honor of Sgt. Gerald Vick, whose name was just added to the memorial wall. Vick was shot to death last May.

Police Chief John Harrington says it brought them some closure.

Those making the trek included five St. Paul officers who rode motorcycles to D.C.

An estimated 20,000-plus people attended Saturday night's vigil, which honored 155 officers nationwide who died on duty in the past year. Three were killed in Minnesota, and a fourth was a Minnesota native.

The names added to the wall also included Lino Lakes police officer Shawn Silvera, Wadena police officer Peter Resch, and National Park Service Ranger Jeffrey Christensen, a Forest Lake, Minn. native.
