Man Accused In MN Park Killing Waives Extradition

Sioux Falls, S.D. (AP) ― A man accused of murder in the 2001 death of a 20-year-old worker at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, Minnesota, has waived extradition.

Thirty-five-year-old Randy Swaney was moved to the Minnehaha County Jail today to await extradition to Minnesota. He has been released on parole from the South Dakota State Penitentiary, where he has been serving time on an unrelated conviction.

Swaney told a judge this afternoon he is waiving his right to force Minnesota prosecutors to prove he's the man accused of the murder.

Carrie Nelson of Sioux Falls was found beaten to death in May 2001 at the park. Swaney faces four counts of second-degree murder in her death.
