Senator Norm Coleman says he told President Bush's nominee for attorney general that he believes there should be a "thorough review" of allegations against Minnesota's U.S. Attorney Rachel Paulose.
Coleman says nominee Michael Mukasey, a retired federal judge, was responsive to his concerns and told him they'd be a priority.
Last week a Minnesota blogger reported that Paulose was being investigated by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel for allegedly mishandling classified information and threatening to replace the employee who told her about it. She also allegedly retaliated against some staffers and made racist remarks about one worker.
Coleman said he also told Mukasey that he thinks the Department of Justice needs to provide better management support to U.S. attorney offices.
