$10K Offered For Help Solving Woman's Murder
St. Paul (AP) ―
Rice County authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the murder of a 33-year-old Minneapolis woman.
The body of Laura DeMeules was found naked and severely beaten in a ditch near Northfield. She was last seen in the early morning of Nov. 6 at a house near Lake Street and 21st Avenue South in south Minneapolis.
Her body was found that afternoon on a gravel road about a mile from Interstate 35 and state Highway 19.
Tim O'Malley, assistant superintendent of the state's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, said his agency believes the case can be cracked.
Sheila DeMeules, Laura's sister, said she was told her sister was probably partying with the people who killed her.
Sheila DeMeules said that news surprised her because her sister had been sober for several years. She had a criminal past that included prostitution, theft and drugs, but there were no drugs in her system, Sheila DeMeules said.
"Obviously she relapsed, but we don't understand why this happened," she said.
Laura DeMeules was a mother of three.
