Koren Robinson Cited 5 Days Before DWI Arrest

(WCCO) Minnesota Vikings' wide receiver Koren Robinson was cited in Blue Earth County for driving without a valid state license just five days before being arrested for driving while intoxicated after a high-speed police chase.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office said Robinson was cited on Aug. 10 at 11:59 p.m.

On Aug. 15, police officers said they clocked Robinson going in excess of 100 mph in his blue four-door BMW.

Robinson was charged with felony fleeing police and five other misdemeanors, including DWI, for the Aug. 15 incident.

According to the criminal complaint, Robinson was driving with a suspended license for driving while intoxicated in North Carolina. His license was suspended in March 2005 and is suspended until March 2007.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 17.

Robinson's status with the Minnesota Vikings is still unclear. His history with the league includes a four-game suspension in 2004 for a second violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy while playing for Seattle. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wouldn't comment on Robinson's new arrest Wednesday but said the league reviews cases based on its policy.

After pleading guilty to driving under the influence in 2005, Robinson was released by the Seahawks. He later spent 28 days in a treatment facility for alcohol abuse.
