Gov. Wonders If St. Paul Should Be Ballpark Site

St. Paul (AP) ― Gov. Tim Pawlenty is wondering whether St. Paul could use a Twins ballpark more than Minneapolis.

Speaking on his weekly radio show, Pawlenty questioned whether a stadium would do more good in a location other than downtown Minneapolis. He was responding to comments by Star Tribune sports columnist Sid Hartman, who called into the show.

Pawlenty asked whether a new baseball stadium should be located somewhere that needs an economic development boost, such as St. Paul. The Twins and Hennepin County want lawmakers to vote on a local sales tax this fall to help pay for a ballpark in downtown Minneapolis.

The governor said -- "Wouldn't it be a bigger boost in the arm to St. Paul?"
