Police: Teen Beat Toddler To Death

Fergus Falls, Minn. (WCCO) ―
Police have arrested a Minnesota teenager for allegedly beating a toddler to death.
Emily Lynn Johnson, 2, was found unresponsive at her daycare in a Fergus Falls, Minn. house on June 16.
Police said Johnson had been taking a nap when the incident happened.
"The child has been put down for a nap and when the daycare provider went to wake her up, ah, she had slept a little longer than was usual for her, she was unresponsive," said Brian Schlueter, the Otter Tail County sheriff. "And at that time a call was made to 911."
Johnson was still breathing and was taken to a nearby hospital. She died the next day.
Investigators arrested a 13-year-old boy they said beat Johnson. He will appear in juvenile court to face assault charges.
It is not known if the daycare provider will also face charges. The daycare has been shut down during the investigation.
