Rochester, Minn. (AP) ― Just three weeks after doctors separated them, the Carlsen twins are about to leave Mayo Clinic and return home to Fargo, N.D.

Sixth-month-old Abbigail and Isabelle are scheduled to leave Mayo's children's hospital in Rochester, Minn. Saturday. They'll spend a few days with their parents in the nearby Ronald McDonald House, then be officially discharged on Tuesday.

The twins were born joined at the abdomen and chest last November. Doctors at Mayo separated them in a daylong operation May 12.

Mayo says the girls are in good condition and continue to do well.

According to the Mayo Clinic, conjoined twins are extremely rare, occurring once in every 200,000 births.
