It was twins mania times two at the Metrodome on Sunday.
Not only did the Minnesota Twins draw a large crowd for the final game of a series against the division-leading Detroit Tigers, but the surgically-separated Carlsen twins were at the Metrodome to throw out the first pitch(es).
Abbigail and Isabelle Carlsen -- better known as Abby and Belle -- were living large in the spotlight. The sisters were born conjoined and were separated at the Mayo Clinic in May.
"It's wonderful and having my girls here too," said father Jesse Carlsen. "And we'll be able to remember this forever, having my girls on the mound."
Jesse Carlsen and his wife Amy threw out the first pitches, each holding one of the babies.
Jesse Carlsen said he's been nervous for weeks.
"I've got a slowball, fast sinker and an over the head," he said.
The Carlsens have gotten pretty used to being in the spotlight, but being close to the Major League Twins was pretty cool for them.
"You're standing right next to them, it's like you're bumping shoulders with them, it's so cool," said Jesse Carlsen, who has watched the Twins on television for years.
The Carlsens visited Mayo Clinic on Friday for a checkup. The twins are doing well.
The family was joined at the Metrodome by about 50 friends, family and Mayo doctors and nurses.
