GOP Gubernatorial Hopefuls Debate At State Fair

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) ― A month before their first test of strength, Republicans angling to become Minnesota governor are meeting up to sound off at the State Fair.

At least seven Republican candidates will take part in a 90-minute candidate forum at the party's fair booth Monday. In October, party activists will hold a straw poll that could start separating the large pack.

The event includes state legislators David Hann, Tom Emmer, Mike Jungbauer, Paul Kohls and Marty Seifert. Candidates Pat Anderson and Phil Herwig also plan to attend.

Current Gov. Tim Pawlenty is passing on a chance at a third term.

Several Democrat hopefuls met in their own forum at the State Fair last week.
