Princess Kay Sits In New Butter Booth

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) ― Visitors to the Minnesota State Fair will got a better look Thursday when the new Princess Kay of the Milky Way got her head carved in butter.

Kristy Mussman sat in a new booth at the Dairy Building, formerly known as Empire Commons, when her likeness was sculpted in a 90-pound block of butter.

The new butter booth was built last month. It's wider, with a higher platform, and is moved away from the corner of the building, making it easier for spectators to view the butter carving.

Mussman, a 19-year-old college student from Claremont, was crowned the 55th Princess Kay Wednesday night. She'll spend the next year as the official goodwill ambassador for Minnesota's dairy farmers.

A ribbon-cutting was be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the new butter-carving booth.
