Belle Plaine Artist Creates Fair's Poster

ST. PAUL (AP) ― The Minnesota State Fair has chosen a Belle Plaine artist's painting as this year's art that will raise money for the fair's foundation.

Leo Stans painted a turn-of-the-century fair scene with the grandstand, milk and corn dog booths and a bright midway in the distance.

The image will go on postcards, posters and limited edition prints to benefit the State Fair Foundation.

Last year's State Fair art raised more than $25,000 for the foundation, which preserves and restores buildings on the fairgrounds.

This year's fair starts Aug. 27 and runs through Labor Day.
