For golf fans, the road to the U.S. Women's Open actually starts at Southdale, one of eight satellite lots to bus fans to Interlachen.
You won't be able to park at the course itself, and once you get there, you can't bring a cell phone.
"No cell phones, leave them in the car," said Dave Mona, the event co-chair.
There is a place to check-in cell phones before fans get to the gate, and so far, very few complaints.
"We only had one person that said 'Why wasn't anything in the newspaper?'" said volunteer Dave Britz. "And I said 'Well, I can't answer that one, but if you look at the back of your ticket, it says no cell phones.'"
The reason is obvious.
"The last thing you want is somebody lining up the winning putt," said Mona. "And all the sudden somebody's cell phone goes off."
There are also other things to avoid.
"You can bring an umbrella, but not in a case," said Mona. "You can bring a stool to sit on, but no armchairs."
But you can bring kids. Lots of kids.
"If you come in with a paid ticket," said Linda Mona, the other event co-chair, "Nine children can come in free."
Each kid gets a sticker, good for a free lunch, and a lot of goodies, which was a nice surprise for the Cooper family of Hastings.
"It's been great so far," said Matt Cooper. "We got an easy bus ride here, we were the only ones on the bus, and got right in and got a bunch of free stuff."
Kids also have reserved seating in the first few rows of the bleachers, in another attempt to encourage kids to come out to the event.
