UMD Advances To D2 Quarterfinals With 20-10 Win
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) ―
Isaac Odim rushed for 192 yards, and quarterback Ted Schlafke scored on two short touchdown runs to lead Minnesota Duluth past Chadron State 20-10 on Saturday in the NCAA Division II playoffs.
The Bulldogs, who received a first-round bye, built a 20-0 lead in the third quarter. They outgained the Eagles 388 yards to 178.
Garrett Treffer passed for 170 yards, an interception and a touchdown for the Eagles (11-2), which lost starting quarterback Joe McLain to an injury in last week's playoff game. McLain had a 38-4 career record as a starter.
The Bulldogs (12-0), the Northern Sun conference champions, will play at Grand Valley State in Michigan in the quarterfinals on Nov. 29. This was the first NCAA playoff victory for an NSIC team in five years.
