Fan Runs On Field, Says 'Goodbye' To The Dome

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― The final Twins game at the Metrodome had at least one fan jumping out of his seat.

The fan quite literally leapt from his chair, behind home plate, and rushed the field during the 9th inning of Game Three, taking a final lap around the last baseball diamond of the Dome.

Though the man disrupted the game between the Twins and Yankees for a number of minutes, it seemed to be just what the fans needed to get on their feet for the final stretch of the game.

The Metrodome cheered for the man, who ran straight passed second base -- and Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter -- before turning and heading deep into left-center.

An army of Twins security chased after the man, cornering him at the wall where he attempted to climb over and escape.

The man was nearly home free when security officials grabbed him and pulled him back down. Security guards seemed to struggle for a bit, before getting the man on his feet and escorting him off the field.

Minneapolis Police Sgt. Jesse Garcia said most likely, anyone who runs on to the field during a game would be issued a citation for trespassing and/or a disorderly conduct. They could also be barred from attending future events.

Garcia said rushing the field is "stupidity of the highest degree."
