Mauer's Brother Named Minor League Manager

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― Joe Mauer's brother has been named manager of the Minnesota Twins' Class-A affiliate as part of a restructuring of the team's minor league operations.

Jake Mauer will manage the Fort Myers Miracle after spending last season managing the rookie league Gulf Coast Twins to a first-place finish. Jake played in college at the University of St. Thomas, a Division III school in St. Paul.

Former Twins catcher Tom Nieto will manage Minnesota's top affiliate, Triple-A Rochester. Nieto managed Double-A New Britain last season and replaces Stan Cliburn in Rochester.

Jeff Smith will manage New Britain and former catcher Chris Heintz will take over the Gulf Coast Twins.
