Twins: Ballpark Will Cost An Extra $22 Million

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― The Minnesota Twins say they'll spend another $22 million on their new ballpark.

Twins president Jerry Bell told the Hennepin County Board Tuesday that the Twins want to add bathrooms and more weather shelters and use more expensive stone in building the ballpark. That will push the cost of the stadium from $390 million to $412 million, with the team covering the extra cost.

The board also learned that some infrastructure costs have increased, as well. Steve Kramer of the ballpark authority says the county might have to find partners to help pay for landscaping, signage and other enhancements near the ballpark.

The stadium is slated to open in 2010.
