Snow Helps For Some Snowmobilers, Skiers

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) ― This month's heavy snow is good news for some Minnesota snowmobilers and cross country skiers.

The Minnesota Department of Tourism reported Friday that snowmobile and cross-country ski trails in northeastern Minnesota are in good to excellent shape.

That includes those in Scenic State Park near Big Fork, McCarthy Beach State Park and Bear Head Lake State Park near Ely.

The Department of Natural Resources says parts of the North Shore Trail will not be groomed for several days. Several bridges along the trail were found unsafe to support heavy trail-grooming equipment.
