Wild Sign Olvecky, Stoner To 1-Year Deals

ST. PAUL (AP) ― The Minnesota Wild have signed minor leaguers Peter Olvecky and Clayton Stoner to one-year deals.

Olevcky had 17 goals and 16 assists for the Wild's AHL affiliate in Houston last year. The left winger was Minnesota's third-round pick in 2004.

Stoner is a defenseman and was Minnesota's other third-rounder in 2004. He had three goals and 12 assists last year for the Aeros.

The Wild also announced they will open the 2008-09 season at home against the Boston Bruins on Oct. 11. It's the fourth straight year the Wild have opened at Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota will play three home-and-home series against Eastern Conference opponents -- the Bruins, New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning.

The full NHL schedule is set to be released on Thursday.
